About the Institute
History, Vision & Mission
History
The university recognized that it has established strong relationships and cooperative agreements with many universities in China. A large number of Chinese students have also shown interest in pursuing their studies at the university. In addition, the university has offered Chinese language programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels for more than 20 years, and Chinese is considered one of the widely used languages within the ASEAN community.
Therefore, the university saw a valuable opportunity to establish a Confucius Institute within the university. Initially, a cooperation agreement was signed with the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) on 18 September 2014 to establish the Confucius Institute at Assumption University. Subsequently, on 12 November 2014, Assumption University and Tianjin University of Science and Technology jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in the establishment and operation of the Confucius Institute at Assumption University.
Vision
The Confucius Institute at Assumption University aims to serve as a center of academic excellence in Chinese language and culture. The institute is dedicated to providing knowledge and training, offering Chinese language and cultural education, and being recognized for its ability to develop human resources within communities, society, and the nation. It also strives to effectively promote artistic and cultural cooperation between Thailand and China.
Mission
The Confucius Institute at Assumption University is committed to providing high-standard education in Chinese language and culture. Its core mission is to develop and deliver quality training programs for students, lecturers, educational personnel, and the general public. The institute also supports the dissemination and exchange of academic knowledge to enhance teaching and learning, while strengthening the long-term relationship and cooperation between Thailand and China.

The Confucius Institute at Assumption University adopts a “Co-Director” administrative system, consisting of one Thai Director and one Chinese Director, under the supervision of a joint committee as follows:
